There is a castle in Santander that used to be a summer residence for the royal family, but is now part of the university and houses several summer programs. We walked up there one afternoon and were surprised to find sea lions and penguins. The castle is in a large peninsula park that has a really neat playground, access to the beach and a bar. There is a bar about every 20-30 yards. And, I have to point out, I have yet to see a highly intoxicated person. The very nice woman at the reception desk let us walk around the ground floor of the castle. It was only a few rooms, but it was nice to see.
